Dear Parents,

Welcome to Grace Christian School’s pre-school class. My name is Shari Garvison. The children can call me Teacher Shari. I have taught preschool at many different levels and for many years. I am excited to say that this is my ninth year here at Grace Christian School. This is a wonderful school, and a fantastic place for your children to learn and grow. My assistant’s name is Heidi Koch. The children can call her Miss Heidi. Heidi is the mother of two children and has also taught preschool in the past. We are both very excited to have this opportunity to nurture and teach your children this school year.

We will be working on many fundamentals at school including: developing social skills, fine tuning small motor skills, learning new songs and finger plays, making craft projects, learning to recognize and write our letters A-Z, learning to recognize and write our numbers, shapes, and colors, learning Bible stories and so much more. My prayer is that this year will be a great start to a successful future for your child.

Our class starts at 8:30a.m. Please do not drop your child off before 8:15 a.m. We start dismissal at 11:15a.m. All children should be picked up by 11:30 a.m. You may either come in to get your children or follow the arrows to pick up under the carport and Miss Heidi will bring your child to your car.

A monthly pre-school newsletter will be sent home with your child. This will help to keep you informed of what your child is doing here at school. I will also post a copy of the newsletter on the inside of the pre-school door, it will also be posted on the school website.

Have you filled out the teacher information sheet yet? If not, please fill it out and return it to me today. This information will be on file in the pre-school room and readily accessible in the event of sickness or an emergency. It is very important that this form is kept updated throughout the school year whenever there is a change of phone number, address or a new carpool driver.

We are asking parents to sign up to bring snacks for your child’s class. The co-op snack calendar is located on the front door of our classroom. We currently have 18 children so please bring enough for each child. Snack is an important time for our little ones. The children are very proud when it is their turn to pray the blessing and help pass out the snack that they bring.  We try to promote healthy eating habits so please think of nutritious choices when selecting a snack. I have attached a list of snack options to give you ideas on what to bring.  Please let me know if your child has a birthday or special occasion that you would like to sign up for on our snack calendar. You may bring cupcakes or a treat on this day. Also, I will send a copy of the snack calendar home monthly.

Please make sure your child has a Pee Chee or any type of school folder to keep his/her papers in. We will send home daily work, crafts, newsletters, snack calendars and other important papers in this folder. You may also use this folder to send a note to me with any questions that you might have as I will check them daily.

Show and Tell will begin next Friday September 18th. Please encourage your child to show or tell something special about themselves with the class. They may bring a special picture, book, toy, stuffed animal or anything else they are interested in. We do not allow any gun or weapon type toys. If we have a party or a field trip scheduled on a Friday, we will not have show and tell that day.

You are invited to our school’s open house on Monday, September 21st, at 7:00 p.m. You are welcome to come and see your child’s classroom, meet Miss Heidi and myself, check out your little ones’ first craft and ask any questions that you may have.

Picture day is Monday, September 28th, during our class time. Please have your child dressed and ready for pictures that morning.

I hope this answers any questions that you might have. If not, feel free to see me b efore class time or send a note addressed to me in your child’s folder, and I will be more than happy to respond.

I’m looking forward to a fabulous school year!

Teacher Shari
