Kindergarten News
Happy Fall! Since school began we have learned our short vowel sounds, reviewed shapes and numbers, and learned new songs, a poem and met new friends. Welcome to our new student Grace in our afternoon class- we are happy to have her here!
The Children have been working very hard on their listening and social skills which is a big part of kindergarten. e have learned about Noah's Ark and are remembering a lot of what we forgot over the summer. (Children can forget up to 50% of what they've learned over the summer). We've also been working on writing our full names, learning our addresses and phone numbers and following directions. The students are very excited about getting their names up on the charts so they can go in my amazing Treasure Box! Please be very excited for them when they accomplish getting on a chart (name, phone number-the charts will vary as they reach their goals.
This month we will be cooking, having a guest firefighter, "Hilarious Hat Day" and "Dress as Your Favorite Storybook Character Day". I strongly encourage you to work with your child using your imaginations to create crazy hats and costumes. (ex. A pot with gummy worms taped on for a hat or cardboard fairy with glitter). We will be reading 3 letter words in a couple weeks and starting work on counting coins and writing numbers 11-20. We also continue talking about manners, respect, honesty, faith and a good topic for this month "Be not afraid". Our first field trip is coming up soon. Both classes will be going to the Pumpkin Patch and there will be no afternoon class.
Please continue to check your child's folder everyday- they my have something in there they need to finish and return. Thank you for sending in the great snacks. If you have something else on hand or see a sale please feel free to substitute for my suggestions, (except on cooking days).
Thank you so much for sending in your box tops- we are doing well at 10 cents a piece! Please continue to save them and bring them in during the whole year- they help a lot!
Thank you for being such great parents and caregivers to work with! Im looking forward to a month of fun and learning.
Ms. Grace
