Organizational Announcement
Mrs. Twila Denham to succeed Mrs. Watterud as Principal/Adminstrator effective June 15, 2010
To the parents and staff of Grace Christian School:
We'd like to inform you of an upcoming change in the leadership of the school. Mrs. Watterud, GCS Administrator, has advised the board of her intent to retire from her position as of June 15, 2010. Mrs. Watterud has faithfully served as Administrator of Grace Christian School for more than 30 years. During this time, GCS has grown from a Preschool to a full Pre-K through 12 program with enrollment capacity nearing 300.
Although Mrs. Watterud's departure will be a loss for the school, we are fortunate to have an experienced and capable replacement available. The GCS board has asked Mrs. Twila Denham to fully assume Mrs. Watterud's responsibilities upon her retirement, with preparation for the transition beginning immediately. Mrs. Denham has served at Grace for more than 20 years, holding a variety of teaching positions. Over the past few years, she has taken on oversight of the Junior and Senior High programs, and in January of this year, began overseeing the day to day operation of our Elementary program. Effective this school year, Mrs. Denham will relinquish most of her teaching duties and will focus primarily on her role as principal and the upcoming transition of administrative responsibility.
The past several years have been a time of change and transformation for our school. This change in leadership is a natural part of that process, and will position us to continue our ministry well into the future. The board looks forward to working with Mrs. Denham, the school staff, and the GCS families. The board asks that all GCS families join us in continued prayer for our school and accept this occasion as an opportunity to honor Mrs. Watterud’s years of service by recommitting ourselves to the vision and mission of Grace Christian School.
As this is the first of several changes that are being instituted at GCS, the board asks for your patience and support as we find the right course for our school in staffing (Jr. High & elementary), financial stewardship, and building maintenance/repair. If you have any questions, please direct them to the GCS Board email at board@gladstoneaog.org.
